AMI System

AMI serving as the foundational backbone of the smart grid, it transforms traditional energy monitoring into a dynamic, data-driven process.

At the core of this system are smart meters, which are digital devices installed at customer premises. Unlike traditional meters, they record energy consumption at highly granular intervals, typically every hour or even more frequently. These meters are connected to a robust communication network that utilizes various technologies, such as Radio Frequency (RF), Power Line Communication (PLC), or cellular networks, to transmit data seamlessly.

The data collected by the smart meters is first routed through Data Concentrator Units (DCUs) or gateways, which aggregate the information before sending it to a central Meter Data Management System (MDMS). The MDMS acts as the system's brain, validating, storing, and analyzing the massive influx of raw data to generate actionable insights.
